DABANGG arrived with a bang and not just broke the opening weekend record of 3 IDIOTS but also turned out to be the second highest grosser in the history of Hindi cinema by doing business in the excess of 140 crores net. Now comes Salman Khan’s READY and after watching the film’s promos, trade is already pegging it to be next Salman blockbuster that would at the least top 100 crores mark.

Aishwarya Rai: Empress of 2010

Bollywood’s empress Aishwarya Rai has been silent for the last couple of seasons. She didn’t feature in any Bollywood flick in 2009. Last year, she was seen in just one film: Hollywood’s Pink Panther. But in 2010, the tigress is all set to roar again with four films lined up for release: Raavan, Endhiran, Action Replay and Guzaarish, collectively costing over Rs. 300 crores. Let’s take a look at the lady’s projects!

First comes Raavan, Mani Ratnam’s most ambitious bilingual project. Raavan, said to be the modern adaptation of the epic Ramayana, revolves around Ravana, the ruler of Lanka, who kidnapped Sita. The story culminates with Sita taking the side of Ravana instead of Rama, who suspects her chastity after having spent so much time in Ravana’s custody. Vikram plays the villain. Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai are the lead pair in Hindi, while Vikram will play the lead opposite Aishwarya in Tamil. Music is by Oscar winning A.R. Rahman.

Then comes the big budget sci-fi film Endhiran, starring Southern Superstar Rajinikanth. The film is said to be made at a budget of Rs. 125 crores. Endhiran, directed by Kollywood’s master filmmaker S. Shankar, is also is special for its choreography by Prabhu Deva. Lyrics by Vairamuthu, art direction by Sabu Cyril and cinematography by Ratnavelu comprise a regular Shankar team. The stylish director has also roped in Oscar winner Resul Pookutty for sound effects; it is also said that a unique sound effect has been created for the film. The story of Endhiran is set in the future, when new and bizarre fashion fads would come into existence. Music is by Oscar winning A.R. Rahman.

Action Replay, starring Akshay Kumar, is a time-travel tale in the 1950s and its storyline is based on an eponymous 1994 Gujarati play. Director Vipul Shah has emphasized a lot on the lead actors’ retro looks in the movie.

And finally, the most anticipated film of the year Guzaarish, which also marks the comeback of renowned director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and the much-loved, screen-scorching pair of Aishwarya-Hrithik. The film’s script is fresh; a married nurse (Ash) falls in love with a paraplegic man (Hrithik Roshan).

I am a film directing student and as one we are expected to study films from all over the world. To be able to make films we need to study how they are made first and to learn, we turn to the masters. I respect every film director because it is not easy to put yourself out there. Unlike most people who would love to critique other people’s work, I watch films and appreciate it for what it is. I am currently studying telugu online movie and to be able to do that I needed to get a hold of as much Hindi films as I can. I need to study films that dated way back into the past up to those that were just made recently. I want to be able to tap into the mind of every film genius out there, so that I can be like them as well.

My turn will come. But for now I should be content with my position as a spectator and I watch all the Hindi films from an online site that allows me to watch movie online and collects several Hindi songs, Telugu and even Tamil films. The collection they have is quite impressive. They have a good selection of films and they load very well. It costs me nothing to and all I need is decent internet connection and I can watch all the movies I want to see.

Movies are passion. I chose to study film making in University because I have always wanted to someday make my own masterpiece. Who knows I can get a Golden Globe someday, but if not, it will be okay.

Being beautiful may not always work in your favour. This ringed true for Bipasha while she was shooting for her film LAMHAA in Kashmir.

It so happened that during her shoot in Kashmir the security around her was so tight that she was completely surrounded by the men in uniform. With the beauty surrounded by the men, the situation became a bit intimidating for the actress and her discomfiture was quite vivid in her expression.

Sensing the predicament of his actress, the producer of the film Bunty Walia came to Bips rescue and ordered the security to leave her alone.

Speaking about the incident, Walia says, “Actually, it was after a long time that a full fledged shooting of such a large scale was happening in Kashmir. So, the crowds used to gather whenever we went out to shoot. Consequently our security was also beefed up to deal with the swelling crowds that used to throng the sets. On this particular day, when Bipasha was surrounded by security men, I could sense her discomfort at this heightened security blanket around her and had to intervene. Finally, the actress breathed a sigh of relief when the security around her was relaxed.”

LAMHAA is one of the few films that has been shot in Kashmir over the years and is slated to release early next year.

Britney Spears was spotted out grocery shopping at her local Ralph’s back in El Lay on Wednesday before performing at the Staples Center.

Naturally, she was accompanied by her bodyguard and several members of the Ralph’s staff.

Not normal for U or us, but definitely normal for her. Just another day in the life of Brit Brit!
